Our clients purchased the beautiful beachfront site and approached Happy Haus to design a robust, minimalist beach house where they could slow down and connected with the surrounding nature. This very special site suits their needs perfectly, whilst straddling an extensive area of protected bush land and beach in Northern NSW.
Due to its location and surrounding vegetation, bush fire risk was a key driver of the design and chosen materials. Concrete and brick were selected not only as a response to the bush fire risk but also as a palette that offers durability, strength and optimal thermal comfort on hot Summer days ad cool winter mornings.
The walled courtyard creates pockets of occupation amidst the vast bush land beyond the site’s boundaries. This is a beach house for 2 people wanting quiet spaces of retreat and also a house for 10 people with varying rooms, edges and corners to occupy.
Due for completion in early 2019.
