We love to receive an interesting client brief for one of our new custom homes. The client brief paired with a small lot parcel of land in one of Brisbane’s inner ring suburbs, presented an exciting design opportunity for the architectural team. Split level planning was utilised to provide a sympathetic response to a sloping site and also create spatial variation and program separation within the “single storey “constraint.

The split level upper floor spaces are divided by a tall, light filled circulation zone. The kitchen, living and dining spaces enjoy an elevated position over the outdoor room and pool deck, capturing the Northern sun. The pool, deck and outdoor room create edges that surround a green at the rear, perfect for our client’s desire to host garden parties.

Our client’s love of mid-century design supported the single pitched roof form that creates a combination of raked and flat ceilings within. The simplicity of the plan and roof form coupled with a restrained approach to materiality creates an elegant home suited to our clients.
